It is reported that unit 6 of Bulgaria's sole nuclear power plant Kozloduy has been reconnected to the country's energy system after it was temporarily shut down on May 26th 2012. Unit 6 was shut down on May 26th 2012 due to a technical glitch that did not pose any risk of nuclear contamination. The

temporary closure of the 1,000 MW unit was caused by a malfunction of a turbo generator protection system at 7:52 PM local time on May 26th 2012. Mr Valentin Nikolov CEO of Kozloduy told the Bulgarian National Television that the Unit would be reconnected to the electric grid as of 9:00 AM on May 28th 2012. He added that Unit 6 is currently working at 40% of its capacity. The defective transformer that caused the technical glitch has been replaced. Kozloduy produces more than 30% of the total electrical power generated in the Balkan country.
