temporary closure of the 1,000 MW unit was caused by a
malfunction of a turbo generator protection system at 7:52 PM local time on May
26th 2012. Mr Valentin Nikolov CEO of Kozloduy told the Bulgarian National
Television that the Unit would be reconnected to the electric grid as of 9:00
AM on May 28th 2012. He added that Unit 6 is currently working at 40% of its
capacity. The defective transformer that caused the technical glitch has been
replaced. Kozloduy produces more than 30% of the total electrical power
generated in the Balkan country.
